Pet of the week - Arcturis

I'm starting a post series about interesting Hunter pets in WOW. With so many expansions there are a lot of cool pets that are forgotten. The purpose of this series will be to reveal those pets to you and maybe help you find a suitable pet for your new transmog.

The first pet that I'm going to talk about is Arcturis - the spirit beast bear.

Arcturis is a level 74 spirit beast found in Grizzly Hills. He is the only spirit beast that looks like a bear.

You need to be a Beast master hunter to be able to tame him.The reports are that his spawn time is 21 hours, but some comment say that it's between 6 and 72 hours.

Below you can see the spawn location of Arcturis. As you will se the location is only one and the area is quite small. You will be able to see people waiting for him at this spot all the time.

There is no doubt that this is one very interesting and beautiful pet. You can use it for many transmog sets. I can't say that Arcturis is forgotten pet, but I think he is a very good start for those series.
If you need any tips about how to get him, don't hesitate to ask your questions in the comments below.

See you until next Saturday when I will post about another interesting hunter pet.

Patch 5.4.7 PTR: Hunter Pet Changes

In the new patch 5.4.7 we will witness changes in some of the pet spells. For now there are only the pets affected - Sporebat, Fox and Goat. Their cast speed reducing abilities are nerfed from 20% to 10% on player targets.

Spore Cloud: Dusts nearby enemies with spores, reducing the casting speed of all enemy targets within 6 yards by 50% (25%10% on player targets) for 10 sec.
Tailspin: Your fox twirls its tail around, kicking up an obscuring cloud of dust, causing all enemies within 10 yards to have their spell cast speed increased by 50% (25%10% on player targets) for 10 sec.
Trample: Your goat tramples the enemy, kicking up an obscuring cloud of dust, causing all enemies within 10 yards to have their spell cast speed decreased by 50% (25%10% on player targets) for 12 sec.

For now this is the only change which affects hunter and I don't think that it is a major one...

The Grumpy Elf: How do you Choose Your Pet ?

For many hunters out there what pet they use is more so a function of the group they are in or it goes back to the age old "what is the best pet" argument where they will always use whichever pet sims to be the best pet.  Since wrath and the age of the wolf there really has not been a "best pet" but thanks to frost from warcraft hunters union we were able to find the true best pet, for the DPS.  Just watch the video, trust me, you will not regret it.

So now that we know that a sporebat is the best pet in the game and it hits bosses for a billion with its enormous man parts and can make rogues bleed from the anus, and death knights too, we can move on to other reasons you might choose a pet beside the fact that using a sporebat will make you leet....Read more.

I found a blue Portent

I was farming for Skyshards today ,when I saw footprints on the ground. I followed them for a couple of minutes and I found the rare beast. It was a blue version of Portent. I already have the red version of him ,that's why I didn't tame this one.
I don't use quilen for a pet and I've tamed Portent just for my collection. Here is a pictures of him:

How to use Stampede in PVP ?

Stampede is one of the most powerful spells for us hunters in Mists of Pandaria. The problem is the the CD of the spell is 5 minutes ,so we must be very careful when to use it. There are many uses of the spell - some hunters combine pets with high DPS and use Stampede for greater burst of damage, others use Spirit beast to heal themselves with the spell.

I personally use five different pets with specific abilities and I would like to share them with you. I think that with this combination of pets you can get very good burst of damage as well as nice CC on the target.

The combination in not oriented on direct damage , the goal is to get the right debuffs on the target.

So my pets are Bird of prey,Boar,Raptor,Spider and Devilsaur.

From the Bird of prey I get the Snatch ability which is 8 second disarm.

The Boar gives me Gore - "Your boar gores the enemy, causing it to take 4% increased physical damage for 30 sec."

The Raptor - Tear Armor -Tears at the enemy's armor with the raptor's talons, causing Weakened Armor.

Weakened Armor -Weakens the armor of the target by 4% for 30 sec.  Stacks up to 3 times.

From the Spider I get - Web- 5 second root on the target.

And from the Devilsaur I get Monstrous Bite and Terrifying Roar.

Monstrous Bite- Your devilsaur ferociously bites the enemy, reducing the effectiveness of any healing received for 10 sec.

Terrifying Roar-The devilsaur lets out a terrifying roar, increasing the critical strike chance of all party and raid members by 5%.

So in total I get :
-8 seconds Disarm
-30 seconds increased physical damage by 4%
-30 seconds reduced armor by 12 %
-5 seconds root
-5% Crit chance increased
- reduced healing on the target

So this is my tactic for Stampede and I hope that you will find it useful. Tell me how you use the spell and keep hunting !

Portent is in the stable

After many days of playing and completing daily quests today I saw some footsteps in the Valley of Eternal blossoms. It took me nearly 20 minutes to follow them and finally I found Portent in the middle of the valley ( near the two giant statues ). I putted a hunter's mark on him and tamed him .I tamed the red version of Portent and I can say that I like it a lot . For me the blue and the red versions are the most attractive. For now I use BM only for PVP ...so my Portent won't be very useful to me ,but maybe in future I will make some raid with my guild and if they tell me that they need me as a BM hunter...there will be much work for my Portern qilen pet.My hunt for the exotic pets of Pandaria will continue and I hope that soon I will have the luck to tame another interesting pet.

I wish you all good luck with the pet hunting ;)

Stable change for hunters

There is more information about patch 5.3 with each day ,but as you all know the most interesting info for me is the one about hunters. So today i woke up and I saw another very important and interesting change- a "stable"change.
As you all know to this moment all hunters were able to stable 20 of their pets in the stable master and take the 5 most favorite with them. But now with patch 5.3 Blizzard are increasing the amount of stable pets from 20 up to 50.
This is very good news because now we will be able to gather much more rare and interesting pets , because of the larger space that we are going to get in the stable.
Until now I was collecting only useful pets and very few of my pets were in my stable because of their looks. If you are a BM hunter now you can gather all of the spirit beasts ,rare Pandaria pets and still have more room for other interesting pets. And you wouldn't be forced to get rid of a pet because now need other pet more.

So on the end of this post I would just like to say Great job Blizzard !

Mists of Pandaria New pet Families- Basilisks

In MoP beta there are six new pet families that can be tamed. This information is about the beta servers and it can be changed by Blizzard in every moment !

So the six new families are :
-Basilisks
-Cranes
-Goats
-Porcupines
-Quilen
-Water Striders

Basilisks- The first thing I'm going to say is....FINALLY!!! I've wanted to tame basilisk from the moment I saw one in Stranglethorn. In MoP they are going to be Tenacity pets. Basilisks will eat meat and fish. Their special ability will be Petrifying Gaze(Turns the target into stone for 3 sec, causing them to be invulnerable.).

Rare hunter pets-Birds of Prey

I am MM hunter but my seconadry spec is BM so I will start to make posts about the most rare and interesting pets. The first kind of pets are going to be the Birds of pray (you don't need to be BM hunter to tame them).

"Birds of prey are a family of Cunning pets in World of Warcraft. They are tamable by a  Hunter starting at level 10.

Birds of prey, through use of their  Snatch ability, can disarm a target for 10 seconds. This ability is very nice for PVP and can also disarm any mobs which are regularly able to be disarmed (which can include dungeon bosses). Some may also know a unique "bonus" ability,  Trick, which causes your pet to flip up and do a turn in the air. This ability has no actual purpose and is just for show, and it is also not available to all birds of prey.

There are a whopping twenty-eight different skins available for bird of prey pets. Birds are prey are unique because the pet class features a variety of different species, including eagles, owls, parrots, hawks and even a seagull! As such, there are a number of exotic and rare skins available for players to tame. The best-known rare birds of prey are Aotona and Olm the Wise."

Aotona is a big rate blue parrot. It's located in Sholazar Basin. The lelev of the beast is 75 and it drops Aotona's Collar and Abandoned Adventurer's Satchel.

Aotona
 Aotona location

Olm the Wise is a big owl located in Felwood. He is level 48 and he has unique white skin. He may drom 80 green items and Giant egg.

I personally like Olm more because for me big blue parrot is not nasty enough. But thats only my opinion. So good luck with the rares and soon I will give you information about more interesting pets.

Do you use Petopia ?

I think that this is very useful site. It helped me a lot when I was trying to choose my pets. The information is more systematic than the information in wowhead, wowwiki or thottbot. Maybe this is be favorite place for every BM hunter :)

The first hunter I saw

The first hunter that I saw was the dwarf from the trailer. A friend of mine showed the video and in the moment when I saw the hunter with his bear companion I realized that if I play this game I will play hunter and nothing more.
So here is the video and I know that you will all enjoy it !

Introduction

Hi ! I am starting this blog because I play hunter and I would like to share my experience to other hunters. I play WOW since 2007 and  I've always played Night Elf MM Hunter. The other thing is that my brother also play WOW and guess what..he is also a Hunter, but he is a Dwarf.

I know that there are many, many blogs about hunters and I won't try to teach you something. I just wan't to share to other people and if someone find something useful in my posts I will be very happy that I helped him :)

So wish me good luck and I hope that I will provoke you ;)
